Twenty minutes after the McMurdies left our house last night, while listening to an Alison Krauss concert with Ryan, Ian, unprovoked, burst into sobs. He was looking out the window and sobbing something. We couldn't see anything out the window and while the song was sad, it wasn't that sad. After some calming, we realized that he was crying, "My buddy gone." He had realized that Hallie was actually gone. We showed him on the calendar when she would be coming back and looked at some of the pictures we had taken together on the camera and he calmed down.
But he clearly misses his buddy and her family. Sunday night during our say nice things time Ian said, "Got nice Hallie's mom." This morning he insisted on eating breakfast in "Tobin's chair" (the one he used last night for dinner). We'll be glad to see Hallie and Alison in 16 days and very happy to have them a little closer.

That is really cute. We keep waiting for the explosion of words to start pouring forth from Henkka's mouth, but for now it's just a mess of Finglish.
That is adorable... isn't it great to have family visiting, and better to have them close by. Sometimes we adults forget how important extended family is to the kids especially.
