Henkka's Birthday

Here is a picture of Henkka on the 4th on his new tricycle that Grandma and Papa contributed to. Thank you! There's some video and pictures of his birthday on our blog.

"Mommy, AURUS!"

Last week we had our 20 week ultrasound. We decided to have it be a family thing, so Scott and Papu came with me. I had previously felt that we were going to have another boy, but in the last little while I had started to have my doubts, so we were excited to actually find out which one this hard kicker is.
As the technician started the exam, Papu looked at the screen and knew at once what it was: "Mommy! Nemo!" he yelled pointing at the screen. Soon he realized his mistake and, being the smart kid that he is, corrected himself exclaiming, "Mommy! Aurus!" which means "Mommy, Dinosaur!" (Dinosaurus in Finnish)
I had a hard time not laughing as he would not stop yelling "dinosaur!" until Scott steered his attention to his Thomas the Train toy. Any time they came back to look at the screen, Papu would yell, "Mommy! AURUS!"
The technician had a hard time concentrating and our little baby was being really shy and had legs and cord all in the crotch area. Finally our technician was sure that, in fact there was no dinosaur in my uterus, but a baby GIRL!

It's Official

Yesterday I finally got to go to see a doctor for being pregnant. It was so good to hear the heart beat of the baby, and to know that I haven't been vomiting for nothing. I wasn't sure of my last periods, so I had an ultrasound today... how exciting! The baby is 68mm (2.6 inches) and everything looked perfect. I am 13 weeks and the due date is July 29th. First trimester is done. Hooray!

Project

Now that we are both almost totally unemployed, I've decided to finish those projects that have been pushed aside for years (some of them for too long). The project of choice this week is to send out those photos I took of us at Easter in 2006. They are now obviously outrageously outdated, but hey, they are better than what we had before -- which is nothing.

So be on the look-out for some mail with a picture cd.

On a more cute note, Henkka can now recognize his cousin Hallie from the picture we have posted on our fridge -- and can say her name as well! Now we'll start working on Ian and Molly, whose photos also occupy the fridge door.
